We serve every student K-12 in New York state! IC-NY offers multiple ways to advance to IC–NY Finals. If you are an individual student and looking for a mentorship to to develop your invention please complete the Youth Inventor Connects program.
Youth Inventor Connects
Youth Inventor Connects (YIC) is designed to inspire and support young inventors on their own invention journeys. Utilizing ArcGIS StoryMaps and highlighting ICW's seven-step invention process, this resource provides virtual mentoring, Kahoot! games, relevant videos, and structure for self-paced and self-directed
learning as well as exposure to a vibrant cast of young inventors who share their invention journeys.
This online StoryMap structure makes it possible for anyone with internet access by phone or computer to follow the invention process from the first glimmer of an idea right through presenting.
Who can participate?
· Homeschoolers, whether at the family or cooperative level
· Clubs and youth organizations such as 4-H, FFA, JA, Urban Tree House, BSA/GSA, Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCA/YWCA youth programs
· Military families who can use IC-NY’s YIC path to guarantee that regardless of transfers the students will get to present their inventions at IC-NY virtual
· Students facing medical challenges that preclude attending a live competition
· Special education students whose accommodations are best met through individualization of rate, presentation and content
· Gifted and talented and 2E students who are eager to move on a project at the rate and sophistication level meeting their needs
· Any students whose schools are not offering invention curriculum in their classes or clubs
